A ranking policeman who jumped to the aid of a fellow officer that got attacked by a blade-wielder was granted the King's Commendation for Valor.

Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown following he held a knife to the neck of his partner Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown began the violence as the law enforcement personnel and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist after a traffic accident in that location in summer 2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed both Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster before PC Wolstencroft stopped him with a Taser.

"Officer knifed," the constable stated over his communication device.

Officer-mounted and dashboard camera recording made public by the force depicted Brown, that was clothed in black with a head covered, rush to Sgt Foster from the rear with a knife extended.

The department said Sergeant Foster utilized his palms to control his fellow officer's bleeding prior to paramedics reached the scene.

The new award comes subsequent to the three officers were granted organizational Valor Recognitions in fall 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the area Police Federation in spring 2024.

They additionally received a Regional Bravery Award in mid-2024.
